Northwest Makes is the creative effort of Tiffany Smith-Fleischman, a textiles artist in Issaquah, Washington. She screen prints and sews everything in her Issaquah workroom. All fabric is sourced from a wholesaler in the U.K. that works with European mills and maintains a strong commitment to sustainable practices. All designs are original and created by Tiffany.
About the maker
Thank you for visiting my site. Northwest Makes is just me, Tiffany. I make everything you see on the site, which means I screen print yards and yards of fabric, and then sew it all into the items I have for sale. It’s a slow process – intentionally so. I enjoy printing and I enjoy sewing.
I make things that are designed to be reused, cutting household waste. Napkins, dishtowels, totes, aprons. I’ve made a commitment to sew with organic or sustainably made fabrics. And I typically use cotton and linen.
I’ve also made a commitment to source my supplies from companies committed to actively working toward justice and equality for all. As a small business, one of the few things I can leverage is where I spend my money. It’s a long process, and I am committed to necessary change.
In addition to printmaking, I’ve collaborated with Splendid Avenue, a gorgeous shop in Issaquah. I make images on canvas using black ink and thread. The pieces are only available at Splendid Avenue.
I am immensely grateful for the customers buying my work right now. I remain hopeful for a just future, for all people, for our environment and for our health.
In the meantime, you can find me in my workroom making things.
